- Quiet and Effective
- This is our preferred trap for feral cat TNR projects. It's quiet when it trips, weighs under 10 pounds, is easy to clean and easy to set. The only suggestion we would make is to make the release plate solid instead of mesh to make it more inviting for the kitties to step on to reach the bait food. We have added a piece of cardboard to ours to make it a flat surface. They don't like the feel of the mesh on their paws. Just a suggestion, otherwise, we love these traps and will be buying more. I recently bought this trap and feel it is the best buy for the money, and I looked at several brands. It is secure, easy to operate and set. The mechanism is simple, strong, effective & should last a long time. I also wanted one with the rear lift-up release/transfer door like this one has. And the best part ~ Made In The USA! ~
Two suggestions I would make:
1.> The 'trip-plate' should be made of a solid piece of material, or at least a much finer mesh material. The cats don't like to step on the course mesh currently used. (I've watched them, I tested it on our 3 cats. They step OVER it, not ON it.)
2.> The carabiner supplied is OK, but I replaced it with a 'snap-swivel' that I already had on hand. It is more secure & easier to attach & remove. It's also easily attached to the cage with a small, short chain so it does not get lost.
